1 Night / 2 Days · Weekend Escape

Jim Corbett Weekend Package

Corbett is the closest tiger reserve to Delhi — near enough that a single weekend covers the drive, a resort night by the Kosi, and a dawn jeep safari inside the park. The 1N2D weekend package compresses the essentials into two days without turning the break into a checklist sprint.

1 jeep safari included Dinner & breakfast at the resort Works on any two days, not just weekends From Rs. 5,500 per person

The Plan

Two days, planned around one great safari

A weekend trip fails when it is over-scheduled. This itinerary protects the two things that matter — an unhurried evening by the river and a dawn safari on Sunday — and treats everything else as optional. The same structure works midweek, when permits are easier and resorts cost less.

Day 1 · Saturday

Reach, unwind, riverside evening

Leave Delhi by 5 AM or arrive by the overnight train to Ramnagar; either way you are at the resort by late morning. The drive is about 240 km via Moradabad and Kashipur on NH309, and the last stretch along the Kosi is the moment the trip starts feeling like a holiday.

After lunch, the afternoon is deliberately open: swim, walk the river bank, or take the short drive to Garjia Devi temple. Groups that want a second safari use this slot for an evening jeep drive instead. Dinner is at the resort, and the early night matters — the gate reports before sunrise.

Day 2 · Sunday

Dawn jeep safari, breakfast, drive back

Tea at the resort, then a dawn reporting time at the gate for the morning jeep safari — the strongest sighting window of the week. Winter mornings bring tigers onto the warm forest tracks; summer mornings concentrate elephants and deer near the waterholes. The drive runs roughly three hours with a registered guide.

You are back for a late breakfast by mid-morning, with time for a last river walk before checkout. Leaving Ramnagar by 1 PM puts you back in Delhi by early evening, ahead of the Sunday-night traffic on NH9.

What You Get

Inclusions and exclusions

The 1N2D structure keeps the price honest: one night, three meals' worth of resort board, and one fully organised safari. Add-ons are quoted before you confirm, never after.

Included in the package

  • 1 night resort stay in your chosen stay class
  • Dinner on arrival day and breakfast on departure day
  • 1 open jeep safari with permit, driver, fuel, and gate fees
  • Government-registered nature guide for the safari
  • Permit paperwork handled against your ID details
  • Ramnagar railway station or bus stand pickup and drop
  • WhatsApp support through the weekend

Not included (quoted separately)

  • Transport from Delhi or other cities (taxi quotes available)
  • Lunch on either day, unless the resort plan includes it
  • Second safari or Dhikala canter seat
  • River rafting, zipline, and other adventure activities
  • Camera fees, tips, and personal expenses

Getting There

Three ways to reach Ramnagar for a weekend

Self-drive from Delhi

About 240 km and 5.5–6 hours via NH9 and NH309 through Gajraula, Moradabad, and Kashipur. The Friday 8 PM departure or Saturday 5 AM start are the two patterns that avoid the worst traffic. Resort parking is standard everywhere.

Train to Ramnagar

Direct trains connect Delhi to Ramnagar, and the overnight options arrive early enough for a same-morning safari on day one if you want to flip the itinerary. The package includes station pickup; the full route detail is on the how to reach guide.

Taxi from Delhi or Kathgodam

A one-way or round-trip cab removes the driving load entirely and is the practical option for groups of three or four. Route-specific rates are on the taxi page, and the transfer can be added to the package quote.

Worth Considering

Three upgrades weekend travellers actually use

Second safari

Adding an evening drive on day one roughly doubles sighting chances and uses time that would otherwise go to the pool. It is the highest-value upgrade on this package — compare zones on the zones overview first.

Riverside stay class

On a one-night trip the resort is half the experience. A Kosi-facing room turns the free afternoon into the best part of day one, especially for couples. Weekend dates in this class go first, so ask early.

Stretch to 2N3D

If your dates can flex by one day, the 2N3D holiday package adds a second safari and the Garjia–museum circuit without changing the trip's basic shape. It is the better format if this is your first Corbett visit.

Timing & Permits

The one thing weekend trips get wrong

Weekend safari permits are the tightest inventory in Corbett. Jeep permits for Saturday and Sunday shifts are limited per zone, and holiday weekends can sell out days ahead. The fix is simple: confirm the safari before the resort, not after. Once the permit is locked against your ID details, the rest of the weekend assembles around it.

Season-wise, the package runs all year. Jhirna, Dhela, Garjia, and Sitabani stay open through the monsoon, while the 15 November to 14 June window adds Bijrani and the classic winter mornings. For a deeper read on season trade-offs, see the weekend trip guide and the best time to visit guide. Current rates stay consolidated on the safari prices page.

FAQ

Weekend package questions, answered

How much does the 1N2D weekend package cost?

Pricing starts around Rs. 5,500 per person with a standard resort, one jeep safari, dinner, and breakfast. Riverside and premium resorts, a second safari, or Delhi transfers move the quote up, so the working number is confirmed against your date and group size.

Is one night in Jim Corbett enough?

One night works well as a reset trip with one strong morning safari. If tiger sighting is the main goal, two safaris across two days roughly doubles your chances — either add an evening drive or move up to the 2N3D holiday package.

When should I leave Delhi?

Either Friday evening after 8 PM, sleeping in Ramnagar so Saturday starts at the resort, or by 5 AM on Saturday to arrive by late morning. The Friday-night pattern is more relaxed; the Saturday start saves one hotel night.

Which safari zone will I get?

Jhirna, Dhela, Garjia, and Sitabani operate year-round and suit weekend timing. From mid-November to mid-June, Bijrani becomes the classic weekend zone. Allocation depends on permit availability, so weekend requests should be made early in the week.

Can I do this trip by train?

Yes. Direct trains run from Delhi to Ramnagar and the overnight options arrive early enough for a same-morning safari. Station pickup is included in the package, and the Sunday return train leaves after a relaxed morning.

Does the package work on weekdays?

Yes, and usually better: permits are easier, resorts are cheaper, and the park is quieter. The same 1N2D structure applies to any two consecutive days.
