It saves a night's cost but spends your freshest hours on NH9.

The Friday night pattern flips the trade: leave Delhi after 8:00 PM, reach Ramnagar around 1:30 AM, and wake up already at the resort. Saturday becomes a full day — two safaris become possible, or one safari plus genuinely unhurried river time. Most repeat weekenders migrate to this pattern; the extra resort night is the price of a weekend that doesn't feel like a race. The train version works the same way: the overnight Ranikhet Express from Old Delhi reaches Ramnagar before dawn, and a station pickup puts you at breakfast by sunrise.

Which Zone for a Weekend? Think Gates, Not Fame

On a 48-hour clock, gate distance quietly beats zone reputation. Bijrani (Amdanda gate, minutes from Ramnagar) and Garjia are the low-friction winter picks; Jhirna and Dhela, 13–16 km south, run all year and carry the monsoon weekends; Sitabani's buffer drives are the easiest permits when everything else is gone. The one thing a weekend does not comfortably fit is Dhikala — the core zone works on canter day-trips and overnight FRH stays, both of which deserve a third day. Three Mistakes That Ruin Corbett Weekends

1. Booking the resort first and the safari never. Weekend jeep permits are the scarce item; resorts are not. If Sunday morning's drive isn't locked, you have booked a hotel stay, not a safari weekend.
2. Treating Sunday checkout casually. The return leg hits Sunday-evening traffic at Moradabad and again entering Delhi. Leaving Ramnagar by 1:00 PM keeps the drive at six hours; leaving at 4:00 PM does not.
3. Over-stuffing Saturday. Arrival, lunch, safari, temple, falls, market — on paper it fits; in practice the safari suffers. Pick the safari plus one thing. The river fills whatever space remains, and it is usually the part everyone remembers.
