Phato Zone
Living among the forest canopy
The Phato safari zone is one of the quieter circuits inside Jim Corbett's wider reserve network. Unlike the heavily trafficked Bijrani or Dhikala corridors, Phato offers a slower, more contemplative forest experience — denser Sal forest, fewer vehicles, and a genuine sense of solitude. The tree house stay is the defining accommodation option here, placing guests above ground level in a simple but memorable wooden structure.
A tree house stay works differently from a standard resort night. You fall asleep to the forest at your level, not below you. Night sounds carry differently at height — the rustle of leaves, the call of a nightjar, the distant alarm of a sambar. Guests who have stayed in conventional lodges often describe the tree house experience as a reset: quieter, more focused, and far more connected to why they came to Corbett in the first place.
The Phato zone also suits guests who want to combine a wildlife experience with genuine tranquillity. It is not the right choice for travellers chasing high-footfall tiger corridors. It is the right choice for travellers who want the complete jungle stay — arriving before dark, waking before dawn, and letting the forest set the rhythm of the day.
What the package includes
The tree house package at ₹20,000 per night is designed as a complete unit. There is no need to arrange the stay and safari separately. Everything needed for a single-night forest experience is covered from the moment you confirm your dates.
Tree House Accommodation
One night in an elevated wooden tree house structure within the Phato zone circuit. Built for minimal environmental impact and maximum forest immersion.
Jeep Safari Included
One jeep safari session in the Phato zone with a certified naturalist guide. Morning session recommended for the best wildlife sighting probability.
Meals
Breakfast and dinner are included. Simple forest kitchen meals — filling, fresh, and timed to the early-morning safari schedule.
Forest Guide
A certified forest guide accompanies the jeep safari and is available throughout the stay for wildlife identification and nature walks.
Planning your visit
The best months for a tree house stay are November through May. Monsoon season (July–September) affects access roads and the overall experience. If your dates fall in the winter window (November–February), book early — Phato zone tree house inventory is limited and popular dates fill quickly.
Transfer from Ramnagar is the standard arrival route. The Phato zone is approximately 25–30 km from Ramnagar railway station. If you need a taxi from the station or a transfer from Delhi or Nainital, that can be arranged alongside the stay. See the taxi from Ramnagar page for transfer options.
Guests who want to extend beyond one night or combine the tree house stay with a Bijrani or Dhikala safari should mention that when enquiring. Multi-night itineraries with zone combinations are possible and often produce a stronger overall trip than a single-zone plan.
