Misty mornings, migratory birds, and the opening of core zones.
Winter is the most popular time to visit Jim Corbett National Park. The landscape, refreshed by the monsoon rains, is lush and green. The air is crisp, and the atmosphere in the forest is nothing short of magical, especially during the early morning hours when the mist hangs low over the Ramganga River.
This is the season when all the gates of the park finally open to the public. While the buffer zones like Jhirna and Dhela are open year-round, the world-famous Dhikala Zone welcomes visitors from mid-November.
Winter brings hundreds of species of migratory birds from Siberia and Central Asia to the Corbett reservoir. Look out for the Great Crested Grebe, various species of Pochards, and the elusive Fish Eagle. It's the best time to sharpen your bird-watching skills.
Expect morning temperatures to drop as low as 2°C to 5°C. Daytime is pleasantly sunny with temperatures around 20°C. The "misty" safari experience is a hallmark of Corbett winters, providing a dreamlike backdrop for photography.
December and January are peak holiday months. Book your winter tour package at least 45 days in advance.
